Description
Inaugurated in 1927, the Boa Nova Lighthouse in Leça was made to replace the old Nossa Senhora da Luz Lighthouse (1761) in Foz do Douro. With 46 meters in height, it’s the second largest in Portugal and the first electric lighthouse installed in the northern area of the country. Near the Boa Nova Teahouse by Álvaro Siza, the lighthouse has a circular balcony that offers visitants an amazing panoramic view of the Matosinhos coast. If you haven’t gone up its 225 steps, then here is a good opportunity to do so.
