Description
This stately neoclassic building, very present in the definition of Porto’s life, was constructed according to John Carr’s 1769 project, which articulated the wings of the Hospital in order to form a square around a large patio. The construction was prolonged till 1837, but only one part, with a U shape plan, was concluded. After several interventions, its extension was made in the 1990s with a new building by José Carlos Loureiro. The visit that we propose limits itself to the original part, National Monument since 2010, including: the museum, the staircase, the Noble Salon and also the garden and chapel.
