Description
Initially developed in the studio of Fernando Távora, this is Siza’s first work that deals with the dimension of the landscape, as it will happen soon after with the Tea House. Taking advantage of an old irrigation cistern, this structure completes eloquently the themes and architectural culture of the Conceição Farm. As its construction was interrupted during several years it is noticeable the transition of an approach sensitive to the typography, with the use of vernacular themes, to a more modern, abstract, approach, in a tension that is permanent in Siza’s early work.
