Description
The first work by Álvaro Siza, designed even before he had graduated, was controversial and presented by a newspaper as “the shame of our land”. Commissioned by members of the same family, these four houses – two of them are semidetached – even though unified by their language, feature a series of variations where volumes, elevation and the organization of indoor spaces are concerned. When visiting one of these houses, we suggest that you take into account the architect’s precociousness, which reveals itself in the whole but particularly in the assemblage of the wooden pieces.
