Description
Described as the only example of Art Nouveau in Gaia, this house was built by the Viana do Castelo businessman Bernardo Abrunhosa, but is known by the name of the proprietress since 1945. Public Interest Building since 1982, it was converted in Casa da Cultura [House of Culture] in 2007. The design is attributed to Ventura Terra and it also features the work of important fine artists. The glass, iron, stone and tile work, as well as the curve lines and naturalistic motifs testify the euphoria and eclecticism of the Belle Époque. The visitant can feel what fascination means in architecture and take a stroll in the garden.
